Android Streaming Issue
Phone playback (in my case on the HTC Evo) often stops completely, I will get either a Connecting or Buffering message that does not go away until I forward on to the next track. After forwarding to the next track playback resumes. I am guessing that perhaps if the data connection is temporarily lost the mecanto app has difficulty picking up where it left off. It is an issue because every time mecanto stalls I have to access my phone and forward to the next track while driving... not the safest operation.

I have an Evo and this is happening to me, too. When I am at work I can stream with no issues but when I am driving, playback stops part way into a song. I don't have to access the phone to move onto the next track, though... it happens automatically. It's frustrating nonetheless because I can't listen to songs all the way through while driving.

I still think this is a buffer issue as other players like mspot do not have this problem. However I love mecanto's ability to hold more music and would much prefer to use your player if only the connection issue could be resolved.

I'm using a Nokia N97 Mini and have same problem, but i'm convinced it's a buffer/connection problem because when i'm roaming on a 3G network with bad signal quality then the stuttering in mecanto player happens and it can't seem to figure out that it has got good connection again. Roaming on WiFi network doesn't seem to be a problem.

Same on my HTC Desire. Seems not be be a device related problem.

Same problem on my Droid X. Stops mid-play and then I need to mess with my phone while I drive.Doesnt happen on audiogalaxy, but i love mecanto's ability to store all my music on the cloud. I would recommend it to everyone if the buffer were faster and the interface looked a little sleeker. I am currently subscribing to this service and as a customer I appreciate all your hard work. Thank you.

We've just release an updated Android app that tried to tackle some of these issues. For starters we solved some bugs relating to buffering. In addition in case we get a playback error we skip to the next track automatically after 15 seconds (so you don't need to take your eyes off the road).
We'd love to hear you feedback on this new version as many of these issues are tricky because different devices behave differently on different networks.
almost forgot - you can grab the latest version by simple searching for MeCanto in the market or simply upgrading it using the market app on your phone. -

I still have streaming problems on my LG P990 (Optimus Speed/2x).

We're still working on this issue. One tip that might help if you're having streaming troubles on WiFi is to disable the turning off of WiFi while phone is in sleep state.
Do a Google search for "android disable WiFi sleep" for more info on how to get this done on your phone. -

I have the Android app installed on a Packard Bell tablet running honeycomb 3.2.
I have no problems with uploading any of my files. There was a few that would not upload initially. I had ripped these myself from my cd's using itunes. So I downloaded alternatives of the same files and they uploaded easily.
About 75% of my 7000 songs plays flawlessly, the rest skip and stop after 30-40 seconds, co-incidently these files seem to be from certain artists only.
However these same files play ok on the Mecanto web account on ANY pc, so I'm happy with that. They also play fine on the mecanto app on my ipod touch although bizarrely this app has no volume control :P
Altogether is a great idea and service but it needs some polish.
Do you have plans to look into tweaking the android app for tablets?
Thank you kindly, Marc. -
