Multi-disc albums

I have a number of albums composed of multiple discs, with file names and the 'disc' ID3 tag all carefully sorted and reflecting this. Is support for recognizing and sorting by the 'disc' tag within your album database in the works? If it's in there right now I can't find it, and sidestepping the issue by using the 'Folders' browsing view is a less than ideal solution.

  • Our system currently doesn't support this. I'll definitely add this to our consideration list, since this seems like a fairly standard and useful feature.

For now what you may do is use the folder view or use the edit option on the site to add tracks to new albums representing different volumes of the same collection.

For example if you have tracks a and b in disc 1 of album X and tracks c and d in disc 2 of album X on MeCanto you'll see tracks a,b,c and d in album X.
What you could do then is add a and b to a new album called "X 1/2" and tracks c and d to a new album called "X 2/2". This won't change the ID3 tags on your local files, but just change the organization inside your MeCanto account. If you need help doing this let me know.

I know, this isn't ideal. That's why we should add support for the disc tag in the future. But hopefully this suggestion can help for now.
